hand crafted accessories from recycled materials

stacia potter, an extremely resourceful and resource-minded artist, is the type of crafty soul who, after their first few dates, inspired her future husband to dub her “some kind of freakish combination of MacGyver and Martha Stewart”. Feeling she’s finally entered her element now that she’s discovered the joys of turning abandoned sweaters and lone wool socks into beautiful and useful works of art, she aspires to make spotter design a fruitful enough venture to pay off those nasty loans incurred while receiving her BFA in sculpture from UMASS Amherst.

Welcome!
Each spotter design creation is handcrafted by the artist using raw materials reclaimed from thrift stores, tag sales, closets, and bargain bins. Chance and whimsy are to blame (..er, credit) for the one-of-a-kind nature of all things spotter. A buttonless lambs wool cardigan here, a moth-eaten cashmere v-neck there; all spotter design raw materials come to the artist one-by-one; sweaters are washed, dried, and pressed, buttons are sorted, and leather handbags un-stitched. These materials then await their final transformation from bygone castoff to inspiration du jour.
